Chico Enterprise-Record, Tuesday, September 12, 1995: "Dortha Brown. A service for Dortha May Brown, 84, of Chico, will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home.

"She died Saturday, Sept. 9, 1995, in a local convalescent hospital. She was born Nov. 5, 1910, in Ogden, Utah, to George and Eliza White. As a child, she moved to Chico. It was there she met David Brown. They were married in 1928.

"Mrs. Brown was a homemaker. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, reading, taking care of her grandchildren, flowers, traveling and eating out.

"Survivors include two sons, Irvin Shinn of Chico and Ralph Brown of Council, Idaho; a daughter, Marlene Johnson of Sacramento; a brother, Laverne White of Reno, Nev.; two sisters, Evelyn Kenyon of Chico and Zella Dyson of Los Molinos; and 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.

"Her husband died previously. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the funeral home."
