Policeman A. S. Abler Dies at 67
Albert S. Abler, 67, of 73 E. McWilliams St. died at 3:50 p.m. Friday at St Agnes Hospital following a brief illness. Mr Abler was an employee of the Fond du Lac City Police Department for 13 years.
Mr Abler was born Dec. 24, 1924, the son of Joseph and Rosina Casper Abler. He married Leona Diederich Feb. 22, 1927. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Holy Name Society. Prior to joining the police force, he was employed for 30 years by Fred Rueping Leather Co.
Survivors include his wife, two sons, Eugene Abler of North Fond du Lac and Carlton Abler at home; two daughters, Mrs. Chester Pie and Betty Lou at home; two sisters, Mrs. Leo Steffen, city, and Mrs. Alex Lefeber of Dotyville; three brothers, Gregor of Mount Calvary, Clemens of Malone, and Raymond of the city.
Mr Abler was pereceded in death by one son and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Zacherl Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's church. Officiating will be the Rev. John H. Goebel. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Monday.

Funeral services for Albert S. Abler, who died Friday, were held Tuesday at 9 30 a.m. at Zacherl Funeral Home and 10 a.m. at St Mary's Church, Rev. John H. Goebel officiating. Honorary pallbearers representing the Fond du Lac Police Department were Sgt. Robert Rothman, Officers Raymond Torres, Terrance Schloskey, Robert Tabbert, Jerome Sippel, and James Papenfuss. Representing the Holy Name Society were Peter Weyer, Steve Sabel, Michael Taft, Emil Konen, George Reska and Arthur Mossong. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery. In addition to other survivors, Mr Abler was also survived by 5 grandchildren, (Not mentioned in Saturday's paper).
Active pallbearers were Leo Muellenbach, Wilfred Diederich, Lawrence Steffen, Kenneth Abler, Clem Hermanns, and Alex Lefeber.
