WILBRAHAM - Jean Muriel (Durant) Albano, 78, of Hampden and formerly of Springfield, departed this life on Saturday, January 29, 2011, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Springfield on February 18, 1932, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Prendiville) Durant. Jean was raised in Springfield; she graduated from Cathedral High School Class of 1949 and Springfield Hospital School of Nursing Class of 1952. Jean was employed for many years as an operating room nurse at Springfield Hospital and an orthopedic nurse at Wesson Memorial Hospital retiring in 1978. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband John F. Albano in 1998.

She is survived by four devoted children and their spouses, one brother and his wife, and one sister and her husband. She also leaves her seven adored grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Jean's funeral will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2011 at 8:30A.M. from the Forastiere Smith Funeral Home, 220 North Main Street, East Longmeadow, MA 01028, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10am in Sacred Heart Church 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Rites of committal will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, 1601 State Street in Springfield. Family and friends are invited to the calling hours on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 from 4P.M.- 7P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Jean's memory to Sacred Heart Church.
