LYDIA ELMA HILLYER, daughter of Vorhees HILLYER and Sarah Ann CRANE, was born 24 February 1829 in Ohio. She married 6 May 1847 to William MISNER, Jr., a carpenter.

They were the parents of Eliza Ann (1848-1853); Benjamin Enyart (1851-1854); Franklin Pierce (1852-1921); Mary Ellen (1855-????); and David Mathias/Mathias David (1858-1925).

Then William died 1 May 1860 leaving Lydia to rear her three remaining children.

On 3 April 1863 the widow Lydia married the widowed Perry SMITH, and they had a daughter, Lydia "Elma" SMITH born 1864.

Lydia, the young mother, died 11 February 1865 probably in Montgomery County, Indiana or perhaps in Rainsville, Warren County, Indiana where Perry Smith and a third wife were residing at the time of the 1880 Census.
