ST. GEORGE, Utah-- Meryl Stoddard Skidmore, 83, died March 8, 1996 in St. George, Utah.
Meryl was born December 29, 1912 in Benmore, Tooele County, Utah to Justin Albert and Agnes Stoddard Skidmore.
He graduated from Delta High School, Delta, Utah in May of 1931 and worked in the grocery business for many years in the California Bay area and Salt Lake City.
Netta Cornell and Meryl were married January 21, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple and have four beautiful children: a daughter, Meretta Adams, of St. Georege, Utah; three sons: James G., of Salt Lake City, Utah; Bruce A., of Littleton, Colorado; B. Cornell, of Boise, Idaho; 19 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren.
He served in the European Theatre with the U.S. Army during World War II. Meryl and Netta served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 1982-84 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. For the past 11 years, he did genealogy extraction for the LDS Church. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 plus years.
Meryl enjoyed social and folk dancing, gardening, genealogy research and a good laugh with family and friends. His family wishes to express their gratitude for the affection and suppport of his extraction and light footed lady dance friends.
A memorial service will be Tuesday, March 12, 11 a.m. at the 19th Ward LDS Chapel, 550 East 700 So., St. George, Utah, and also Wednesday, March 13, 2 p.m. at Lake Hills Memorial Park Cemetery, 10055 So. State St., Sandy, Utah, with interment to follow.
