John W. Bales, age 23 years, died Sunday morning about 1 o'clock near Mt. Tabor church, of black erysipelas, after a sickness of less than a week. The funeral took place this morning at 11 o'clock from Mt. Tabor church. Burial at Woodland cemetery.
....John W. Bales of New Jasper, Ohio, son of Mrs. Matilda Golder, took very sick Monday, May 27th, at the home of William Thornburger, where he was employed as a farm hand. Dr. Rouse, of Paintersville, was sent for immediately, and on his arrival found a very serious case of virulent erysipelas and past all medical assistance. And after the most intense suffering of almost one week, he died Sabbath morning, June 1st, age 23 years, five months, and nine days. The funeral was preached at Mt. Tabor, Monday at 11 o'clock by Rev. J.F. Marlay, of Xenia. Interment at Xenia cemetery.
