Alberta Moressa (Smith) Porter, 93, native of Utah, 25 year resident of Redlands, died February 6, 1975,in Redlands, California.

Mrs. Porter, a graduate of Utah State University, was very active in educational work and in civic affairs. She holds a B.S. degree, major in dietetic, and an A.M. degree, major in economics, from the University of California, Berkeley. She was a board member of the Berkeley Red Cross for more than 25 years and the first woman to be vice chairman of the Chapter. For 18 years she served as a Grey Lady at the Veteran's Hospital in Livermore.

In a time of fluctuating prices after World War I, the California State Civil Service Commission appointed a committee of eminent economists to make a cost of living survey at several income levels. Mrs. Porter was a special assistant to this committee and had an important part in preparing the report for the State Legislature.

In 1951, Dr. and Mrs. Porter moved from Berkeley to Redlands to be near other members of their family which includeds two daughters: Mrs. Glen Adams (Bess) of Redlands, Mrs. John A. Worley (Venna) of Glendale, four grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. (June 1966)

Services February 10, 1975 at the F. Arthur Cortner Chapel, Redlands and interment in Hillside Memorial Park.
