Julius Alonzo Gambold was the eldest of eight known children of Philip Gambold (1824-1906) and Mary Ann Ziegler (1826-1897), who married 13 Feb 1848 at Bartholomew County, Indiana.

Julius married Adaline Clawson (1853-1917) on 25 Apr 1875 at Fountain County, Indiana. Julius and Adaline were the parents of ten known children, namely:

1. Gertrude Gambold Miller (1876-p1930)
2. Grace Gambold (1877-1938)
3. Katherine Gambold Dyer (1879-1979)
4. Adelbert Gambold (1881-1883)
5. Bonnie Eloise Gambold Adams (1884-1968)
6. Lucretia Josephine Gambold (1886-1949)
7. Ralph Gambold (1888-1889)
8. Raymond Gambold (1888-1889)
9. Naliede Harriet Gambold (1894-1976)
10. Helen Adeline Gambold Hurst (1896-1991)

In 1880 the parents, Gertie, Grace and Kate were living at Veedersburg, Fountain County Indiana. In 1900 Julius (a lumber inspector), Adaline (mother of ten, seven living) and all 7 living daughters were living at Veedersburg, Fountain County, Indiana.

Born December 5, 1848, died Friday at Indianapolis, age 71. Formerly of Hope, he married Adaline Clawson April 1875 and they had 10 children, 3 dying in infancy. Surviving are daughters, Mrs. J. A. Dyer of Indianapolis, Mrs. Charles Adams of Beech Grove, Mrs. William Miller of Indianapolis, Miss Lucretia, Miss Helen, Miss Lida and Miss Grace; 3 sisters, Mrs. Monroe Zuck of Palms, California, Mrs. John Tolle of Dayton, Tennessee, and Mrs. Thomas Storms of Veedersburg; and 1 brother, Fred, of Little Rock, Arkansas. Burial was Monday at Hope.
