She had two older brothers; Chester Anton Hosmer(1900-1982)and Herbert Cecil Hosmer(1902-1980).
She married Martin Edward Bailey(1915-1980) on 3 June 1939 at her parents home in Middlefield, Ohio.
They had three children; William Hosmer(Bill) Bailey(1942-1963),Barbara Joan Bailey(1947-1947),and Patricia J Bailey.
In 1952, she graduated with a degree in education from Kent State Ohio. She taught elementary school in Ohio, New Mexico, and Colorado for 38 years.
She loved to hike, read, and watch wildlife.
In 1984, she authored the book, The Charisma of Chalk Creek. The book is about the history of Chalk Creek Canyon where she lived from 1963 to 1996.
She died at Safe Haven, an assisted care home in Salida, Colorado on 28 October, 1996. She was 80 years old.
She is buried close to her son Bill in the Mt Olivet Cemetery in Buena Vista, Colorado.
