Betty Jean Arntz, age 90 of Gowen, died early Monday, July 6, 2020 at Mission Point of Cedar Springs. She was born September 14, 1929 in Greenville, the daughter of Lee and Florence (Eastman) Benedict. On November 26, 1947, Betty married William Arntz. Together, Bill and Betty owned and operated the former Pine Valley Hardware for many years. She was a longtime member of the Greenville First United Methodist Church and current member of East Nelson United Methodist Church. She loved to crochet and loved frogs. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; daughter, Shirley Arntz; and siblings, Lee “Pat” Benedict, Don Benedict, Richard Benedict, and Joyce Barber. She is survived by her children, Dawn (Keith) Rausch and David (Nancy) Arntz; grandchildren, Courtney Rausch, William Arntz, Julie Roach, Andy (Collette) Roach, Chris (Nikki) Rausch, Riley (Jessica) Rausch, and Maggie Rausch; great-grandchildren, Harley, Iden, Tara, Cameron, Gregory, Sarah, Casey, Alexis, and Jamison; brother, Ron (Sharon) Benedict; sisters-in-law, Judy Benedict and Hazel Benedict; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 10, 2020 at the Greenville First United Methodist Church, Rev. Jeff Williams and Rev. Inge Whittemore officiating, with graveside services to immediately follow at Rest Haven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Hurst Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association, and memories and messages of condolence may be shared at www.hurstfh.com.
