Roger was born Dec 18, 1995 to Roger Benson, Sr. and Desiree Howard. He is an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation. Roger was raised and educated on the Yakama Reservation and was a member of the Shaker and Longhouse religions.
Roger is survived by his father, Roger Eugene Benson, Sr.; brothers, DeAngelo Bear, Marcello Benson and Micheal Cloud; sisters, Essence and Zakeya Benson; grandmothers, Nadine Benson, Yvonne Benson, and Dolly Washington; grandfather, Dennis Howard; great grandfather, James Dennis White; great grandmother, Florence White Briones; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Desiree Howard, grandfather (namesake), Roger Eugene Benson, great grandmothers, Esther Alexander and Ruth Howard, great grandfathers, Toney E. Benson and Lawrence Howard.
Dressing services will be held at the Toppenish Creek Longhouse in White Swan on Thursday Jan 27, 2011 (today) at 1:00 p.m. He will remain at the longhouse overnight. At 9:00 a.m. Friday Jan 28th, he will be transported to the 1910 Shaker Church for overnight services. At 9:00 a.m. Saturday Jan 29th, he will be laid to rest at the 1910 Shaker Church Cemetery in White Swan. Merritt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
