"The Family lived in Charleston and spent their summers on a plantation in Colleton County , South Carolina. Dent plantation, "Fenwick Hall."

Moved to Barbour County, Alabama in 1836. John Dent bought 360 acres of land on Cowikee Creek, paying $15 an acre, and named the new plantation "Good Hope."

Descendants include Maximillian B. Wellborn and Mrs. T. E. Kilby.
