Shorty was born Jan. 30, 1920, to John A. and Lola (Gardner) Medlin in Milford, Mo. "Shorty" was a nickname tagged by her dad since she walked back and forth under the kitchen table without her head touching. She was a graduate of the Milford High School. Shorty had resided in the Sheldon, Milford, and Lamar area her entire life except for six years that she operated a new car dealership in Bentonville, Ark. She was an employee of the Medlin Brothers Ford Agency and Gilkey Chevrolet-Olds for several years which was operated by her brother and brother-in-law respectively.

Her business slogan was "Honesty is the one business policy that does not need to be changed to keep up with times". Shorty was of high moral character and honest in her business. She took great pride and spent considerable effort to assure this fact.

In February 1976, Shorty married Kenneth Lincoln. She and Kenneth operated the Lincoln Real Estate until recently and have lived their 35 years of marriage in Lamar.
