Raymond Manuel Dunning, Sr., age 91, passed away January 25, 2011, which would have been the 70th anniversary of his marriage to Gladys. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1938 where he met Gladys. They were married January 25, 1941. He was born August 10, 1919, in Peoria, Illinois to Ralph and Emma Dunning.

Ray was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. Another of the Greatest Generation, he served in the Navy during WWII and worked for the San Antonio Transit Company before and after his military service. He was involved in the automobile business for most of his adult life and later was employed with Porter Loring Mortuaries as an associate in his retirement. He was a member of the Alzafar Shrine Temple and was President of the Antique Carriage Club for many years. He had a passion for antique cars.

He was preceded in death by his wife Gladys; his parents; infant daughter; infant grandson; his sister Mildred Jurek; brother R.B. Dunning, Jr.; and sister-in-law Jeanne Spencer.

He is survived by his sons, Ray Dunning, Jr. and wife Peggy of Tioga, and Robert Dunning and wife Ruverna of Huntsville; grandchildren, Robert Dunning, Jr., of Carrollton, Michael Dunning and wife Desiree of Pflugerville, David Dunning and wife Beth and great-grandchildren, Kayla, McKenzie, and Tyler of Celina; step-grandchildren, Stephanie Nadonly of Dallas, Lindsay Harris of Chicago, Paul Nadolny and wife Kelly and step-great-grandchildren, Sarah and Grace of Frisco; one brother-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
