George Ervin Lemon, 76, of Beatrice, Ritchie County, died unexpectedly at his residence Monday evening, April 20. He was born in Wirt County, son of the late Lafayette J. and Lummie Ervin Lemon. He was retired from Republic Steel in Massillon, Ohio, was a World War II veteran and was a longtime Ritchie County resident. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Glenda Pearl Stonesreet Lemon; two sons, Jack Lemon of Newark and George Lemon Jr. of Parkersburg; a daughter, May Lemon Riel of Washington; a brother, Philip Lemon of Cairo; and four grandchildren. The funeral was held Thursday at the Busch Funeral Home, the Rev. Paul D. Russell officiating, with burial in the Fought Cemetery at Newark with military rites.
