Wathena Times, 27 Feb. 1941: Dies At Age of Eighty. End to Mrs. Alice Peden While Visiting Her Daughter in St. Joseph. Mrs. Alice Jane Peden died Saturday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ollie Shofner, where she had gone for a visit. Rev. T.W. Siever conducted her funeral service from the Methodist church Monday afternoon. Music was furnished by Mrs. S.A. Truesdell and Mrs. M.W. Kiehnhoff, accompained by Mrs. P.F. Dubach. Burial was in Pleasant Ridge cemetery south of St. Joseph. Mrs. Peden was born Feb. 13, 1861, and spent her life here. Until her age became advanced, she was an active member of the Methodist church. Mrs. Peden is survived by four sons, Fred Grace and Edgar L. Peden of St. Joseph, Ben F. Peden of Horton , and J.G. Peden, Jr. of Troy; a brother, Elijah McVey of Wathena; a sister, Mrs. Mary Hape, and the daughter at whose home she died.
