Son of Charles Abraham and Eliza A 'Peabody' Adams. He farmed 3 miles east of Chillicothe. He formed Adams & Sons creamery and secured a reputation for fine butter world-wide. In 1888 he established a wholesale grocery business, Adams Wholesale Grocery. On May 16, 1888 he married Mary Jane Jones in Chillicothe, MO. He later opened the Adams Motor Co. Charles was active in almost all civic affairs of the city. He served as mayor from 1907-1909. He was very active in securing funds for highway projects.
He suffered with muscular neuritis and developed pneumonia which caused his death.
