Betty Jean Needy, 87 of Bloomington, passed away Saturday, January 22nd.
She was born to the late Harley & Ethel (Thorton) Bell on September 8, 1923, in Bloomington, Indiana. During her life, she attended The First Christian Church and Sherwood Oaks Christian Church in Bloomington. She was a member of The Order of The Eastern Star (50+ years, and Alpha Delta Omega sorority. She graduated from Bloomington High School in 1964.
Betty is survived by her son, Robert L. Needy of Ellettsville, Indiana, and her five grandchildren, Brad Seifers, Chris Seifers, Matt Seifers, Robert Thorpe and Brittany Richardson. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Brantley, Samantha, Ryann, Conner, Hannah (Mia), Jaxon and Jayden.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roger Bender, who perished in WWII, and her second husband, George Robert Needy (Bob). She and Bob were married for 50 years at the time of his passing in 1995.
During her life Betty worked at RCA, Rogers Insurance, IU Credit Union and Bloomington Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at the Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene & Harrell Chapel at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 27th, with Helen Enari officiating. Burial will follow at Valhalla Memory Gardens. Visitation will be at the mortuary from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, January 26th.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Betty's memory be made to the First Christian Church in care of the mortuary.
