Funeral services for Leslie Willard Roby, 73, 920 Sandia St., will be held in West Funeral Home Chapel Friday at 2 p.m. Dan Wright of Southside Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery.
Mr. Roby died today in his home.
He was born Aug. 14, 1917, in Bennington, Okla., and attended school in Borger, Texas.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army. After receiving a discharge, he worked in the construction field.
He moved to Carlsbad in 1958 and continued construction work as a heavy equipment operator.
He retired in 1983 and married Helen Marie Rogers on May 6, 1984.
Mr. Roby attended the Church of Christ and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 953.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Marie Roby of Carlsbad; two step-sons, Gary and Rex Kirkes of Carlsbad; one daughter, Sylvia Roby of El Paso, Texas; two step-daughters, Ruth Kelly and Darla Yerby of Carlsbad; one brother, Orvil Roby of Borger, Texas; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by West Funeral Home.
