SERVICES MONDAY FOR EMERY ALLISON
Funeral services were held for Emery Allison, 87, early day Greybull Dirt Moving Contractor. Monday at the Greybull Atwood Mortuary. Rev. Floyd Ellison, pastor of the Basin Baptist Church, officiated. Burial was at Hillside Cemetery.
Mr. Allison died at 7:00 A.M. Friday at SBHC hospital where he had been a patient since December 27.
He was born August 17, 1879 at Brookfield, MO, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Allison.
He left home when he was 12 years old. He came to Wyoming where he was employed on various ranches. From 1902 to 1904 he was employed on the M-L Ranch.
He was married to Margaret David on April 15, 1905 at Big Timber, Montana.
Following their marriage they homesteaded on Crystal Creek, near where Himes was located.
In 1914 they moved to Greybull. He went into business as a dirt moving contractor. At one time he had 14 teams of horses in his operation. He moved the first load of gravel to start the construction on the Standard Oil Refinery. He also excavated most of the basements for houses built during the oil boom years and the 1920s in Greybull.
In 1941 they moved to California where he worked for the Kaiser Corporation. They later returned to Billings to make their home. He was employed at Eastern Montana College as a night watchman for two years.
They returned to Greybull five years ago to make their home. One son, Salathiel, preceded him in death.
He is survived by: his wife, Margaret, of Greybull, one son, Clinton Allison of Cherry Valley, California; one daughter, Mrs. W.T. (Edith) Rule of Bozeman, Montana; Three sisters in Missouri; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Music for the services was presented by Mrs. W.H. Douglass and Mrs. Cullen Fletcher. Mrs A.J. Pederson was the pianist.
Pallbearers were George Clement, Paul Kinnaird, Harold Lockard, J.J. Carey, Drew Prugh and Elmer Larson.
