Funeral services will be held Monday, August 3, 2009 at a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro for Lucy Guilbeau, age 81, the former Lucy Martin, who passed away Friday, July 31, 2009 at 12:05 a.m. at Meadowbrook Specialty Hospital in Lafayette.
Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. Bill Melancon, pastor of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Readers will be LeRoy Olivier and Darlene Lee. Giftbearers will be Alaina Guilbeau and Jeanne Guilbeau.
Musical selections will be provided by Julie Broussard, accompanied by Phyllis Simar on the organ. The songs will be Hail Mary, Be Not Afraid, One Bread One Body, Just A Closer Walk With Thee, and Amazing Grace.
Ms. Guilbeau was a native of Arnaudville and resident of Carencro for most of her life. She was a parishioner of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church in Carencro. Ms. Guilbeau was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and a member of the Catholic Daughters.
Survivors include two sons, Brian Guilbeau and his wife, Kim, and Kirk Guilbeau and his wife, Jessica, all of Carencro; five daughters, Jo Anna Lee and her husband, Kent, of Carencro, Priscilla Bourque and her husband, Joe, of Houston, Jennifer Girouard and her husband, Ruben, of Carencro, Mona Guilbeau Bellard and her husband, John, of Lafayette and Melissa Berry and her husband, Mike, of Dallas; one brother, Raymond "Jean" Martin, Jr. and his wife, Rose Mary, of Lafayette; one sister, Dolores Ann Olivier and her husband, LeRoy, of Lafayette; fourteen grandchildren, Toby Lee and his wife, Darlene, Cory Lee, Brady Lee and his wife, Tina, Cherie Fotch and her husband, David, Bobby Bourque and his wife, Jennifer, Chris Bourque and his wife, Zury, Shannon Girouard, Leslie Suire and her husband, Eric, Brent Guilbeau, Jeanne Guilbeau, Alaina Guilbeau, James Guilbeau, Jason Breaux and his wife, Barbara and Lauren Berry; nine great grandchildren; and three step grandchildren, Kayla Magee, Amy Magee and Melanie Magee.
She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty two years, Alex Guilbeau, who passed away December 10, 2008; her parents, Raymond Martin Sr. and the former Armance Robin both natives of Arnaudville; and two brothers, Felix Jacque Martin and Harris J. Martin.
Pallbearers will be Toby Lee, Cory Lee, Brady Lee, Kent Lee, Shannon Girouard and John Bellard.
