CHESTER - Donald S. Glenn, 74, of Chester, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011, at Trinity West in Steubenville following a brief illness.

A son of the late W. Howard and Blance Wilcoxen Glenn, Don was born on March 27, 1936, in East Liverpool.

A master carpenter by trade, he retired from Weirton Steel and along with his wife, Betty Huff Glenn, who survives at home, owned and operated Happy Acres Farm near Chester.

Don was a member of the Fairview Presbyterian Church in New Manchester and graduated from the former Chester High School in 1954.

He was the Northern Panhandle Soil Conservation District Farmer of the Year multiple times and most recently in 2010, he was a past member of the Beaver Valley antique tractor association, a member of the Doughty Valley antique tractor association, and of the Appalachian Music Club. He was also very active in the Hancock County Old Time Fair and other antique equipment shows where he could usually be found making rope at the rope making demonstration. He and Betty loved to square dance and he was especially proud of his Farmall Super C tractor that he and his son Chuck restored together.

Besides his wife Betty, survivors include his son Chuck Glenn and his wife Cheryl, one daughter, Candi Snyder and her husband Joe, both of whom reside on the family farm. In addition one granddaughter, Ashley (Bob) Babick of Ellwood City, Pa.; two grandsons, Andrew and Jonathan Snyder; a great-grandson Michael Babick; and a sister-in-law, Ethel Glenn of Chester also survive.

A brother, Bernard Glenn, preceded Don in death.

Don's family will be present to receive friends this evening from 5-8 p.m. at the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester where services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Wilds officiating and assisted by the Rev. Katrina Lewis and Evangelist Frank Higginbotham. Interment will follow at Shadow Lawn Memory Gardens in Newell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hancock County Old Time Fair in c/o of Arner Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 219, Chester, WV. 26034.
