Nelson Wendell Gallimore, age 77, of Galax, passed away Monday, April 21, at his home. Nelson was born May 21, 1930 to the late Martha Ann and Thurston Gallimore. Nelson was the minister of Woodlawn Church of Christ. He enjoyed serving His Lord and being with family and friends.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Frieda Gallimore of the home; five daughters and sons-in-law Rebecca and Jerry McGrady of Sparta, Pat and Monty Rector, Karen and Randy Overstreet, Barbara and Steve Ogle and Carolyn and Andy Shumate all of Galax; one son and daughter-in-law Verlin and Teresa Gallimore of Galax; eleven grandchildren Frieda Baggatta, Nelson and Michael Rector, Shelly Church, Gregory McGrady, Trenton and Trey Gallimore, Brandi and Kayla Overstreet, Jacob Ogle and Sarah Shumate; four great grandchildren Amber Leftwich, Sonny Baggatta, Laurin Church and Matthew Rector.
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 24, at Woodlawn Church of Christ at 11am with burial to follow. Malcolm Kniffen , Clark Carlo and Tommy Whittaker will be officiating. Military rites by Hillsville Post #1115. The family will be present to receive friends Wednesday April 23, from 6pm to 9pm, at Twin County Funerals in Galax.
