DEATON, Lawrence A. Deaton, died Thurs., June 7, 2001, after a short illness and hospital stay. He was born Feb. 4, 1916, in Tishomingo, OK, to Dora Williams and Thomas Deaton. He lived a joyful 85 years, helping anyone he could. Early in his adult life, he worked as a laborer on Gaylord Dairy Farms. He was later employed with the Oklahoma City Public Schools and retired from Sunset Elementary. He then moved to Superbia Retirement Village where for the past 15 years he made many friends by being kind and helpful to those around him. He was a very active member and a faithful volunteer with his church at Superbia. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Jane and Diane; three brothers, Ernest, Lloyd and Herbert Deaton; and two sisters, Mabel Reaves and Evelina Smith. Lawrence is survived by four children, Patricia Cockrell of North Texas, Vicki Wall of OKC, Alan Deaton and wife, Mary of OKC, and David Deaton and wife, Judi of Moore, OK. Lawrence was the proud grandpa of 8 grandchildren, Kristi, Ryan, and Kelly Wall, Chad, Taylor, Tiffany, Zachry, and Cody Deaton; and 2 great grand children, Alexiss and Braydon. The family would like to thank Jerry Vance and Becky Gregory for their loving help during Lawrence's recent illness. The family asks that you honor Law rence with a kind deed or word to someone who needs it. Graveside services will be held at the Tishomingo Cemetery , Tishomingo, OK, on Saturday, June 9, 2001, at 2:00 PM, under the direction of Watts Funeral Home.
