Murray Mathis, 87, of Price, Utah, died June 1, 1993 in the Castleview Hospital from injuries sustained in an auto-pedestrian accident.
He was born July 10, 1905 in Price, Utah to Henry George and Sarah Ann Macfarlane Mathis. He married Helen Christena Neilsen, of Mona, Utah on August 19, 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Murray Mathis, 87, of Price, Utah, died June 1, 1993 in the Castleview Hospital from injuries sustained in an auto-pedestrian accident.

He was born July 10, 1905 in Price, Utah to Henry George and Sarah Ann Macfarlane Mathis. He married Helen Christena Neilsen, of Mona, Utah on August 19, 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.He was a prominent civic leader and former mayor of Price, and served his community throughout his life. He was the manager of First Federal Savings and Loan for 37 years. He was a very active member of the LDS Church and served a Swiss/German mission and held various positions over the years, including temple worker in the Manti Temple.

His hobbies were gardening, music, and his greatest love was his family.

He is survived by his wife, Helen of Price; five children, Stan and Jerilyn Mathis, of Castle Dale, Utah; Ann and Lee Thayn, Wellington, Utah; Wayne and Dianne Mathis, Stafford, Virg.; Mary and Boyd Thayn, Wellington; Elizabeth and Earl Gardner, Altamont, Utah. Survived by 11 granddaughters and seven grandsons, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, three brothers, and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 5, 1993, at 12 noon, in the Price 4th Ward Chapel, 545 East 400 North. Viewing will be Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fausett Mortuary, and Saturday at the church, one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Price City Cemetery.
