Daniel White , was a early settler of Harrison Township ( Minford ) Ohio and was a War of 1812 Veteran . He served in Ohio as a private during the War of 1812 under Lieut. Ezekiel Blue's Company , along with his brother private John White and their brother in law private Wyatt Chamberlin , who was married to their sister Mary " Polly " ( White ) Chamberlin .

Several other Scioto County, Ohio citizens also served under the same Ezekiel Blue's Company during the War of 1812.

After the war , Daniel White settled in what was later to become Harrison Township , in the present area of Minford, Ohio . At this time , he and several others were among the the earliest to live in the area .

When Daniel White and other citizens decided to organize a Township , the first official meeting was held on March 6, 1832 at Daniel White's home , and he was elected Trustee of the newly formed " Harrison Township ", thus becoming one of the charter member of the newly formed Harrison Township.

The area was just known as Harrison Township , until the town of " Harrisonville " was formed within Harrison Township on Aug.22, 1859 , just two years after Daniel's death.

Later , on Aug.17, 1917 the little town of Harrisonville was changed to it's current name of Minford, Ohio , however Harrison Township is still in existence to this day .

Daniel White , died in 1857 , and is buried near Minford at Shumway Cemetery , alongside his wife Sarah ( Osborn ) White . Several of his children and grandchildren are also buried at Shumway Cemetery.
