William E. "Bill" Ekstein
William E. "Bill" Ekstein went to be with his Lord September 4, 2006, at the age of 84. He was born August 24, 1922, in Grandview, Idaho, and was the fourth of eight children.

Bill attended school in Nampa, Idaho, and enlisted in the United States Army at the age of 17. He was stationed in Europe during World War II, and drove an Army Jeep for General Dwight Eisenhower.

Bill drove Truck for 31 years, until his health didn't permit him to drive. He then attended College of the Redwoods and graduated along with his son, Douglas. He since worked for Veterans groups, holding offices in all. Bill was a member of M.O.L. (Military Order of the Louse), life member of American Legion, D.A.V., and Veterans of Foreign War.

Bill's greatest delight was his grandchildren of whom he loved to be with. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Esther of Eureka; daughter, Trina McArthur; granddaughter, Lisa McArthur; grandsons, Kevin Silence and Derek McArthur; sister, Leila Marti of Boise, Idaho; brother, John Ekstein of Austin, Texas; and a special niece, Sherry Graham of Pennsylvania. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, William "Doug" Ekstein.

At Bill's request no public services will be held. A private family event will take place at a later date.

Arrangements are under the care of Chapel of the Ferns, Sanders Funeral Home, in Eureka, CA.
