Adolph Otis Susholtz passed away the 22nd of January 2011, 8 days before his 88th birthday.

Adolph was a native Houstonian, the youngest of three children, a proud product of Houston public schools who graduated from San Jacinto High School and received a business degree from the University of Texas. He served in the Navy, and was a Commanding Officer of an L.S.T. , completing his military service as a First Lieutenant Senior Grade. Adolph was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Lena Susholtz; his sister Ida Susholtz; sister and brother-in-law Esther and Aaron Farfel; and his nephew and godson, Daniel Justin Stark.

After graduating from UT and his tour in the Navy, Adolph returned to Houston where he joined his father, and his brother-in-law, Aaron Farfel, in his lifelong career in real estate and investments.
He was a past President of the Jewish Federation of Houston, founding board member of the non-profit Houston Interfaith Housing Corp - now Texas Inter-faith, and was involved with and director of numerous business and financial organizations in Houston and beyond.

Adolph was a leader who got people places but was never at the front of the line. He always assisted others and sought to their safe entry. Navy buddies contacted him long after the war sighting his modesty, generosity, and resourcefulness in all matters.

How many children did Adolph teach to play ping-pong, tennis, or to throw a football? He was ever ready for problem solving for countless organizations that never bore his name, but ever sought his council.

Adolph is survived by his wife of 57 years, Bettiruth Buck Susholtz, and his three children and their families; daughter Devon Susholtz, son-in-law Stephen Purvis and grandson Dylan Purvis; daughter, Lynn Susholtz; and son, Rodney Susholtz, daughter-in-law, Gail Susholtz, and grandchildren Alexann & Benton Susholtz.

Adolph loved and trusted his companions, Wilfredo and Bernardo Fuentes, in all matters, and was comforted at the very sight of them until his final breath.

The funeral service is to be conducted at Congregation Beth Yeshurun at 4525 Beechnut St, Houston. After the funeral, a private graveside service will be held for the family.

Pallbearers are Louis Adler, David Buck, Risa Buck, Jonathan Buck,
