Passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010.
Mr. Stanfill was born February 9, 1925 in Manilla, AR and had lived in the Kalamazoo area for many years.
He spent over 41 years in the paper manufacturing company, retiring from the James River Co. During WW II, he served his country in the United States Army. When not working, he loved hunting, fishing, and was an avid gardener.
On June 15, 1946, Dolty was united in marriage to Gladys Scharping, a marriage that lasted nearly 64 years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gladys; their children, Jane Drake of Kalamazoo, Donald Wesley (Janice) Stanfill of Otsego, and Donna (Len) Bierenga of Schoolcraft; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Mr. Stanfill was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Orie Drake; two sisters; and one brother.
The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. A graveside service will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM in the Alamo Cemetery, with Pastor Ed Schmidt officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or the American Heart Association.
