Abner B. "Ab" Von Pless was one of six brothers, sons of James Franklin Pless and Mary Hulda Swearingen Pless. He was close to his brother, James F. Pless, Jr. (grandfather of this findagrave user - GSPS) and at one time (around 1916) co-owned a men's clothing store with James F. Pless in Summerville (Chattooga County) Georgia.

Before he left the NW Ga. area, Ab owned a small parcel of land in Chattooga County at Cloudland Canyon. He was married for a time to a Miss Echols. Ab was married a second time in Arkansas in 1937 to Elizabeth Lefevre Deshong.

Ab is found in city directories in the 40s, 50s, and early 60s in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Sadly, Ab died suddenly of a heart attack far from home while on his job. He was a salesman for a hosiery company and was at a motel in West Texas when he passed away. His body was returned to Oklahoma City where he was buried at Memorial Park Cemetery, Section 28, Lot 138, Space 1.

Several of the Pless brothers were proud of their Eastern European heritage. The original Pless immigrant from this line, Christopher Pless, had originally come to North Carolina in the mid 1700s. It is thought that Christopher's father was Johann Jacob Pless who may have emigrated from Silesa, which is present day Pszczyna, Poland.

Some of the Pless brothers, including Abner, often used the surname "Von Pless" as they are thought to have come from the Duchy of Pless in Silesa. ("Von" means "of" or "from".) Abner is listed on some documents as A.B Pless, and on others as Abner Von Pless. During the WWI and II eras, the use of "Von" in their names was discontinued for a time due to threats and discrimination they experienced as they were perceived as being of German extraction.

May you rest in Peace, Ab. You are not forgotten.
