JOSEPH SMITH FISH

Joseph Smith Fish died at his home in Delta Thursday morning May 16, after a lingering illness. Mr. Fish was born in Snowflake, Arizona in 1882, lacking a few weeks of being 58 years of age at the time of his death. He lived in Arizona for a number of years, then came to Utah to attend the University of Utah, from which he graduated in 1915. He fitted himself thoroughly in history, and specialized for qualification to teach in the LDS Seminary, which position he held as an assistant until ill health prevented a continuance of those duties. He is survived by his widow, Julia Ann Riggs Fish and the following children; Charles Fish of Delta; Mrs. Adelaide Richens of Roosevelt, Utah; Nancy Marie and Ruth Elizabeth of Delta. Mr. Fish's researches in history, and his command of Spanish, of written Spanish, were always available to others and he was much sought in those fields. Mr. Fish has lived in Delta for the past four years and in addition to his work in the seminary has been an active worker in the church, teaching the Mutual and assisting the genealogical classes. He was a very scholarly man and a large circle of friends here appreciated their association with him. Funeral services will be held at Delta on Sunday after priesthood meeting and interment will be in the Delta cemetery.
