Son of Eleazar Parmly (born in 1797 in Vermont) and Anna Maria Valk Smith. They wed in 1827. Six of their nine children survived infancy. Eleazar was also a dentist. "Ehrick Parmley lived at Bingham Hill year-round following his 1886 retirement from his New York dental practice. His c. 1855 marriage to Lucy Dubois of Montbeliard, France, ended with her 1896 death. Parmly was a talented musician, and lent his abilities to the Oceanic Presbyterian Church. He served as treasurer and trustee of this church, and it became perhaps the favorite of his numerous charities. He died at age 77 on December 18, 1907, survived by three sons. His will directed his affairs be settled within three years. Son Dalton bought the Rumson estate in 1911, reportedly after Ehrick's executors could not find a buyer. Dalton sold various parts of the estate over the years; a large segment became the Parmly Park section of Oceanic. After Dalton's 1938 death, the main house at 142 Bingham Avenue along with a reported 62 acres was sold to Mike S. Jacobs, a well-known prizefighting promoter and local real estate activist..."
