ATLANTA, Ga. -- Ann M. Shook, 88, Atlanta, formerly of Defiance, passed away August 8, 2010, in the care of Lafayette Rehabilitation Center and her family.

She was born April 1, 1922, in Elizabeth, Illinois, to Frank and Florence (Palmer) Foster. She married Max R. Shook of Bryan, Ohio, on February 10, 1946. They were married until his death in 1980. Ann was a high school and cosmetology graduate. She found her calling at the Defiance Hospital where she worked for more than 20 years, retiring in 1985. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church for 54 years. Ann was an ordained deacon and involved in several churches' programs.

Surviving Ann are her brother, Neil (Pat) Foster, Henderson, Nev.; son, James C. (Beth) Shook of Venice, Fla.; grandson, John (Judy) Shook of Santa Rosa, Calif.; and granddaughters, Dana Dade (Santos) Robles of Atlanta, Ga., Kimberly Dade Willard and Kari (David) Anderson. She is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Richard; and a daughter, Cecilia "Brie." Also preceding her were a brother, Frank Foster; and sisters, Marjorie Pasturezak, Elinor Whittman and Genevria Halvorson.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. this Saturday, September 4, 2010, at Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance. Funeral services will be immediately following at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Wally Seibel officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Memory Gardens.
