BOSWELL, Okla. -- Funeral services for Mrs. Kate Esther Smith, a resident of Boswell from 1927 to 1970, were held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the United Methodist Church in Boswell. The Rev. Jim Lester, pastor, and the Rev. Milton Kresse of Yantis, Texas, officiated. Coffey Funeral Home in Hugo made burial in Restland Cemetery.

Mrs. Smith, 80, died at 8 p.m. Thursday at Andrews, Texas, where she had been ill at the home of a daughter, Mrs. W[oodrow] S[tacey] {Mary Leota} McKinney. She had lived in Andrews since 1970 and was a member of the Means Memorial United Methodist Church there. She was a native of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, born March 25, 1894. Her husband, Ray Smith, died in 1968.

Survivors include eight sons and daughters, in addition to Mrs. McKinney: B[ertram] E[ric] Smith, also of Andrews, A[rvel] L[afaeyette] Smith of Redwater, Texas; Mrs. S[terling] P[atterson] {Bernice Nadine} Echols of Paris, Texas; Mrs. [George] Floyd {Annie Ruth} Roberts of Austin, Texas; R[ay] N[orman] Smith of Texarkana, Texas; N. R. Smith of Hanna, Wyoming; and J[ay] D[enton] Smith of Warri, Nigeria. Fifty-four other descendants, comprising three generations, also survive.
