Elda Cook had her first child, Thelma, with Sherman Martin. She and Martin were never married, although they did reside together, living next door to her parents on Union St. They separated in 1929.

Elda married Andy Mann, July 12, 1930, in Columbus. He was a widower from Lebanon Junction, KY, with several children. Andy's daughters remained in Kentucky, but his son Richard A. Mann came to Columbus with his father. Andy and Elda had Velma, Nellie, Jo Anne and Jack Mann. Andy Mann died of accidental electrocution in 1942.

Elda married Carl F. Brown, Aug. 10, 1945. Mr. Brown was also a widower, with a large family. Elda and Carl Brown had three children: Linda, Nancy and Michael Brown.

Elda raised a large garden each year and canned hundreds of quarts of vegetables, shared with her family; she also did volunteer work at the hospital, led a Girl Scout troop, and kept a busy social life.
