SOUTH DAKOTA - Doris Bartlett Shepard, 94, died Saturday, January 15, 2011 in Rapid City, South Dakota, surrounded by family.

Born in Kanesville, Utah on November 13, 1916 to Anna Schultz and Joseph Bartlett, Doris spent most of her life in Kanesville and Ogden, Utah. She moved 14 years ago to Wyoming and then to South Dakota to be with her granddaughter.

Doris loved to spend time with her family and travel. In her early years, she traveled to Africa on safari several times, walked the Great Wall of China, took cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska, visited Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein as well as many other places. She loved the outdoors and all it had to offer. She enjoyed hunting and observing wildlife of all kinds.

Her interests were gardening, crocheting and reading. She had the most amazing yard and loved to show everyone her roses.

Doris is survived by four of her five grandchildren: C. Bart (Susan) Jensen, Kim (Ryan) Olson, J. Rex (Kat) Jensen, and Lisa (Ken) Lynes; 16 great-grandchildren and 13 great- great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings; Clarence Bartlett, Chet Bartlett, William Bartlett, Velma Vaughn, and Marion Bartlett; daughter Linda Shepard Jensen, and one granddaughter Debbie Jensen Dryman.

Funeral services will be held Saturday January 22 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd, Ogden, Utah.

Family will meet with friends at the mortuary on Friday January 21 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Lindquist's Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
