Fred Billing Dies At Farm Home Near Beltrami
The Star regrets not having been informed last week of the death of a former citizen, Mr. Fred Billing, which occurred at his home near Beltrami Oct. 3, at 9:30 p. m.
Although Mr. Billing had been ill for several years, he was feeling well on the Monday of his death and remarked about it. Mrs. Billing left him sitting on the porch of their home and went inside. When she returned her husband was missing but was soon located in the farmyard, having fallen and died in a heart attack.
Mr. Billing was a native of New Richland. He was born on the farm of his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. John Billing, Sept. 14, 1890. He grew up here and was united in marriage Nov. 22, 1911 with Miss Maria Schendel.
Mr. Billing did farming in this county until 1924 when he removed with his family to Beltrami, continuing farming operations there.
He is survived by his wife and children as follows: Rudolph, Aaron, Emma, Rinehart, Leo, Lorraine, Fred, Jr., and Arnold, all of Beltrami. Two daughters are deceased.
Surviving also are six brothers and one sister: John of Lisbon, N. D., Ernest of Detroit Lakes, August of Oregon, William, Emil and George and Mrs. Julius Schlaak of New Richland.
The remains were brought to New Richland and funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the St. Peter's American Lutheran church, the pastor, Rev. Elmer F. Ackermann, officiating.
Pall bearers were Adolph and Otto Foels, Harold Echternach, Charley Schultz, Fred Reitforts and Albert Weckwerth.
Those from out of town who attended the services were the widow and family, Mr. and Mrs. Rudolph Billing, Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Billing, Mr. and Mrs. John Billing, Mrs. Carl Billing and daughter, Selma, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Billing and son, Erwin, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Schedel and son, Duane.
