Mustered in as a private on September 25, 1862; captured in action, May 3, 1863, at Chancellorsville, VA ; paroled on May 16,1863, at City Point, VA; promoted to corporal prior to April 10, 1863; to sergeant on March 17, 1861; to first sergeant on November 13, 1861; mustered out with his company on June 11, 1865, near Bladensburg, MD.
