John W. Nelson passed away Friday, February 11, 2005 in Ft. Worth. He was born November 2, 1916 in DeLeon, Tx., to Benjamin Oren and Elvie Lou Perryman Nelson. He married Georgia Colleen Vaughn on July 22, 1939 in Dallas.

Mr. Nelson retired from Santa Fe Railroad after more than 33 years of service. He worked as a switchman and yardmaster in Cleburne. He was a veteran of the U. S. Coast Guard. Mr. Nelson was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Moslah Shrine, Cleburne Elks Lodge, the Eastern Star and North Cleburne Baptist Church.

John W. Nelson is survived by his son John H. Nelson and wife Susie of Cape Coral, Florida; daughter, Sandra Powell and husband Dick of Hurst; three grandchildren, Mark Nelson, Kelli Chavez and James Nelson; four step grandchildren, Brad and wife Heather, Terri, Gregg and Pam; seven great grandchildren; three step great granddaughters; a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Georgia Colleen Nelson on May 12, 1990; one brother and three sisters.
