When Ezekiel was past the age of 60, he married a young girl named Elizabeth. Elizabeth ran away shortly after in the year 1840.
Ezekiel placed notice in the local Yorkville Compiler that Elizabeth had made off.
Seems that he was more interested in the return of his horse, than his young wife.
"Whereas my wife, Elizabeth has left my house and home and abandoned my bed and board without cause or provocation---this is to notify all persons not to harbor or entertain the said Elizabeth, or the law will be enforced against them. I will pay no debts that she may contract. She ran away on a bay horse above 16 hands high, belonging to me and also carried off a side-saddle, my property; any person who trades for, uses, or in any manner interferes with said horse and saddle, I will hold responsible. "
