L. Festus, Minear, aged 76, well. known resident at the Claypool community, died suddenly at 1:43 p. m. Tuesday while in Goshen on business. Mr. Minear, who had been under the care of doctor for two weeks, due to a heart ailment, was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Goshen hospital where he was taken after he was stricken.
He was a retired famer and had resided near Claypool all of his life. He was born Nov. 14, 1874, the son of Marion and Jane (Hoppus) Minear.
He had been a member of the Claypool Evangelical United Brethren church for 56 years.
Mr. and Mrs. Minear, who were married Nov. 27, 1895, celebrated their golden wedding anniversary five years ago. Mrs. Minear is the former Miss. Ulla V. Caldwell.
Other surviving relative include their two sons, Paul C. Minear, of Elkhart, and Dr. Ralph R. Minear, of Columbia City; a daughter, Mrs. Edwin Alexander, Claypool; three brothers, John of this city, and Melvin and Irvin (Hub) of Claypool; a sister, Mrs. Oma Hultzinger, of Claypool; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on. Thursday at the Claypool Evangelical United Brethren church, with Rev. Wayne Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the cemetery at Claypool.
Friends will be received at the Sibley Funeral home in this city until Thursday noon and at the church following that hour.
