Funeral services for Velma Doan, 82, of Olney were held Thursday, Aug. 11, in the chapel of Lunn Funeral Home with the Reverend Claude Hendricks, pastor of Olney Assembly of God Church, officiating.

Interment followed in Restland Cemetery under direction of Lunn Funeral Home of Olney.

Mrs. Doan was born Aug. 26, 1922, in Loving to the late Clarence E. Curley and Dollie Laura (West) Strickland. She died Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, in Wichita Falls.

She and Chester Doan were married Dec. 22, 1943, in Olney. He preceded her in death May 25,1981.

Mrs. Doan was a retired pharmacy clerk, having worked for Olney Rexall Drug Store for 35 years. She had lived in Olney the majority of her life. She was active in the Olney Senior Citizens Center. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Survivors include a son Jeff Doan of Wichita, Kan., a brother J.B. Strickland of Cold Springs; and two sisters Oleta Mayes of Olney and Louise Miller of Stamford.

She was preceded in death by a son Ronnie C. Doan on Sept. 24, 1946.
