Raymond T. Dougherty Sr. Retired Chief of Police Norwood Boro Raymond T. Dougherty Sr., on January 18, 2011, retired as Chief of Police of Norwood Borough after 44 years of Public Service. Chief Dougherty was inducted to the Pennsylvania Police Hall of Fame in 1997, he was former President (1993) of the Delaware County Police Chiefs' Association, former President of the South Eastern Pennsylvania Police Chiefs' Association, former President of Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association, Membership Chairman for the International Police Association Region 13, Member of the German American Police Association (Philadelphia), Member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 27, Member of County Detectives Association of Pennsylvania, Former Ambulance Driver and Fireman for Norwood Fire Company. He was also a member of the Pennsylvania Shield & Square Club, Delaware County Lambskins (Police and Fire), Lions Club International, Masonic Lodge No. 0767, Masonic St. Alban Lodge No. 529, former member of the South Philadelphia String Band, and an honorary member of the Quaker City String Band. Survivors: Beloved husband of Marian E. (nee Murter); dear father of Ray Dougherty, Cynthia A. Wescott, Matthew S. Dougherty (Kimberly) and Mark A. Dougherty; Brother of the late William Dougherty, Edgar Dougherty and Norman Dougherty; also survived by 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Visitation/Service: Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Monday after 9 AM at the Cavanagh Family Funeral Home, 301 Chester Pike, Norwood PA, followed by his funeral service at 11 AM. Friends may call at Cavanagh's Sunday eve 6 to 9 PM Burial: Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery Contributions: The Delaware County Hero Scholarship Fund, Delaware County Government Center, 201 W.
