He enlisted as a Private in Company A, forty-forth TN Infantry in May 1862 at Beech Grove, TN according to Colbert Co., TN. He was wounded at Shiloh. He certified that he was discharged in Feb. 1865. A certificate accompanying the pension application showed that he was paralyzed by the shock of an exploding shell.Living in Coffee Co. Tn. in 1870. Still in Coffee Co. as of March 1873 (per midwife records.) Living in Lawrence Co. AL in 1880-Beat #4 Leighton with J.S., Lizzie, "Eller", Cleo, C.C., and M.G. Says father born TN and mother S.C. Living in Leighton, Colbert Co. in 1900 with Lillian, Emma-- says father born S.C. In Morgan Co., AL, Trinity & Decatur Rd in 1910 with no children; had 12 children and 8 were living. Moved to Waco,Tx after 1910
