Ernest L. Ely, age 88 of Joliet, passed away on January 13, 2011 peacefully at Meadowbrook Manor in Bolingbrook, IL after a brief illness.
He served honorably in the United States Army World War II and received several medals. He retired from GAF Corporation in Joliet where he worked for over 35 years.
Dear father of Patricia (Ted) Stringer, Judy Rae (Alex) Davenport and Lisa Ely.
He is survived by eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and a special companion, Ernestine Woodson.
Visitation Thursday, January 20, 2011 4:00-6:00 pm at the funeral home and Friday, January 21, 2011 10-11 am at the funeral home. Service at 11 am, Pastor Richard D. House, officiating. Interment following at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
