Mrs. Elizabeth Dean Thomasson, age 86, of Crockett, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2005. Mrs. Thomasson was born in Crockett, October 8, 1918 and had lived in Houston County most of her life. Mrs. Thomasson was a great-granddaughter of Houston County Pioneers Joseph Redman and Willie Masters Rice. The Rice's were among the First Settlers to the County having arrived here in about 1820. Mrs. Thomasson was the wife of the late Dr. Lyle W. Thomasson, a Dentist having practiced in Crockett for 40 years. Mrs. Thomasson graduated from Crockett High School in 1936 and received a Bachelor of Science Degree from San Houston State Teachers College in Huntsville. Mrs. Thomasson taught school at Grapeland High during her first year out of College. Mrs. Thomasson was a homemaker and a partner with her husband in a number of business ventures. Mrs. Thomason was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, Crockett having attended for 86 years and a member since 1928. Survivors include her daughter: Jan Leavesley and husband Tom, of Houston; Sons: Lyle W. Thomason, Jr. and wife Maggie, of Crockett and John Russell Thomason and wife Elizabeth, of Lubbock; Grandchildren: Christopher Thomason and wife Debra, of Crockett, Russell Hutchings Thomasson and wife Gracelyn, of Lubbock, Taylor Thomasson, of Austin and Maribeth Thomasson, of Dallas; Great-grandchildren: Camron and Megan Thomasson, of Crockett, John Russell Thomasson II and Twins: Maley and Annalise Thomasson, of Lubbock; Nephew: Smitty Dean and wife Rae Pat, of Crockett; Nieces: Dianna Elizabeth "Buff" Dean Bowman and husband Kenneth, of Crockett, Nancy Roberts and husband Matt, of Crockett, Brynda McNey and husband John, of Ft. Worth; Sister-in-law Joyce Thomasson Ballenger and husband Dan, of Kilgore. Preceded death by her husband of 43 years, Dr. Lyle W. Thomasson (in 1985); parents John Lake Dean (in 1958) and Nora Dawson Dean (in 1977); Brother Dr. John Lake Dean, Jr. (in 1977) and wife Albertine Dean (in 1989); nephew John Lake Dean III (in 1994); niece Joannelle Dean (in 1943). Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Dean Thomasson were held Wednesday, June 8, at 10:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church in Crockett with the Rev. Keeney Dickenson officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park.
