William Jacoby, 80, a retired equipment company employee, died Tuesday at St. Joseph Hospital after a long illness. A resident of Conestoga View, he was the husband of Ethel M. Simmons Jacoby, Lancaster. The couple observed their 44t wedding anniversary on Feb 11. Jacoby had worked in construction and as a truck driver for Aggregates Equipment Inc., Leola, retiring 20 years ago. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Born in Beverly, NJ, he was the son of the late Harvey and Mary Ranton Jacoby. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, Jack H. and William C. Bitner, both of Lancaster; two daughters, Alice M., wife of John Mummaw, Lancaster, and Doreen E. Stewart, Manheim; 14 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and two sisters, Pauline, wife of Howard Diehm, Manheim, and Bessie Paris, Lancaster. (Lancaster New Era - May 13, 1987)
