FORMER ESCANABA WOMAN DIES
Word was received in the city yesterday of the death at Port Arthur, Ont., of Mrs. William Gelzer, formerly Miss Ona Ecke, daughter of Mrs. Emma Ecke, 221 North Mary street, this city.
Mrs. Gelzer had been critically ill for the past week and the attending physicians decided upon a serious operation as the only means of saving the life of the former Escanaba young woman. Her mother was summoned arriving there on Monday. The death of Mrs. Gelzer followed late on Tuesday afternoon.
Mrs. Gelzer was born in this city and spent the greater portion of her life here before her marriage. She was engaged as a teacher in the public schools for several years, and had a host of sincere friends who have been thoroughly shocked by the announcement of her death.
In addition to a husband and a year old daughter, Charlotte Virginia, she is survived by her mother, two sisters and a brother. The surviving sisters and brother are: Miss Valeska Ecke, deputy clerk, Miss Norma Ecke, of Oshkosh and Reuben Ecke of Green Bay.
