DIED, In this village, on the 6th inst., Mr. Amos Galpin, in the 89th year of his age — the oldest male citizen of the town. He was an officer in the revolutionary army and received a yearly pension of 240 dollars. He was for man years an exemplary member of the Congregational church and lived and died a sincere and humble Christian.
Amos Galpin: in 1775 he enlisted in Captain Samuel Wylly's company; he was appointed ensign in 1777 and retired in 1780. He was a pensioner when he died at Litchfield in 1843, where he was born in 1755.
