FRANK RICE SUCCUMBS

Frank George Rice was born in Hailey, Idaho, on March 9, 1890 to Elizabeth and Christopher Rice. He was the fifth of 12 children. He moved with his parents to Colorado in 1907, and came to Nucla in 1912. Mr. Rice bought a ranch here in 1913 and had lived in the same place for 52 years.

On April 29, 1914, he married Dessie A Sage. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last year. Mr. Rice farmed and was a prominent cattleman for 31 years before he retired. Six years ago in April he suffered a stroke and had been bedfast since then. He died Sunday morning, April 4, 1965.

Mr Rice is survived by his wife, Dessie and four daughters: Nellie Bennett, Viola Graybeal, June Littlejohn, and Evelyn Garvey. One brother, Jim; one sister, Rose; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.

FRANK RICE SERVICES HELD

Funeral services for Frank G. Rice were held at the Church of Christ in Nucla at 2:00 Thursday, April 8.
Rev George Hibbert officiated with burial in the Nucla Cemetery.
Taped music sung by Mr. Merrill Womach was played during the services.
Pall Bearers were: Andrew Ubell, Wib Cooper, Ned Cooper, Ward Burbridge, Tom Stockham and Ted Lockhart. Honorary Pall Bearers were Pete Campbell, Wib Cooper, Joyce Cooper, Fred Sly, Bent Blackburn and Forest Crabtree.
